GOODS
These are the goods you’ll use the most of for catering in the Planks Tournament:

Planks

Silk

Gems
EXTRAS
If you have any Orc Strategists from winning Grounds of the Orc Strategist in past events, this is a great province to use them!
Training
Train plenty of the following types of fighters to ensure you’ll have the best units to handle the Shady Characters found in the Planks provinces:
Elves
BEGINNER

Golem

Archer

Sword Dancer
Train Archers to use against the Orc Generals and train Sword Dancers to use against Ancient Orcs, Dryads, and Bandits.
Once you have unlocked Golem, train more of these and fewer Sword Dancers.
INTERMEDIATE

Golem II

Archer II

Sword Dancer II
Continue to train mostly Golems. Train just a few Sword Dancers for encounters featuring Dryads and Bandits.
Train Archer II or Elite Archers. They perform better than the Dryad I in this province.
ADVANCED

Granite Golem

Dryad II

Drone Rider II
Although the Orc Strategist specializes against Light Range Units, we found that in this province, they only performed better than the Golems in encounters against Light Ranged units exclusively.
The Granite Golems performed much better in encounters featuring one or more Orc Generals and Ancient Orcs.
Train Dryad II instead of Archers, and Drone Rider II instead of Sword Dancers.
Humans
BEGINNER

Mortar

Crossbowman

Axe Barbarian
Train Crossbowmen to use against the Orc Generals. Train Axe Barbarians for use against Ancient Orcs, Dryads, and Bandits.
Once you have unlocked Mortars, train more of them and fewer Axe Barbarians.
INTERMEDIATE

Orc Strategist

Crossbowman II

Axe Barbarian II
Continue to train Mortars until you have unlocked the Orc Strategist (Chapter 8) as he will perform much better than the Mortars in this province.
Train just a few Axe Barbarians for encounters featuring only Dryads and Bandits.
Train Crossbowmen II or Master Crossbowmen, as they perform better than the Dryads I in this province.
ADVANCED

Orc Strategist II

Dryad II

Drone Rider II
Train mostly Orc Strategist II. Train Dryad II instead of Crossbowmen, and Drone Rider II instead of Axe Barbarians. At level 2, they both perform better than their Barracks’ counterparts.

Their attack is stronger than the Bandits but their defense is weaker.
Fights with large combinations of all 3 enemy types will be the most difficult.
We recommend these be catered or fought manually using a mix and match of your fighters according to the obstacles on the battlefield, especially after round 3 of the tournament.
AUTO-FIGHT
Most tournaments in the first few rounds can be won with auto-fight. This can be a great option for fighting novices to still be able to use a mix of resources (units and goods) so more tournament provinces and rounds can be won.
For many of the first rounds of fights, if you pick the right match ups, the fight is easy enough for auto-fight to do as good of a job as manual fighting would do for far less effort.
Of course, choose at your own risk. The more difficult the fight, and the more even the match-up, the more likely it is that you are nearly guaranteed to lose far more units with auto-fight than with manual fight.

MANUAL-FIGHT
Manual fight is recommended in most instances for fewer losses of units. Manual fight may or may not make a significant difference compared to auto-fight in the easiest battles (usually only the first round of the tournament for each province.)
Use Axe Barbarians/Sword Dancers or Mortars/Orc Strategists/Golems
vs
Bandits, Dryads, Ancient Orcs and one or fewer Orc Generals.
Take out the Ancient Orcs first as they will do the most damage to any of these units.

OR

Use Crossbowmen, Archers or Dryads
vs
Bandits, Dryads, Orc Generals and one or fewer Ancient Orcs

Use Mortars, Golems or Orc Strategists
vs
Bandits, Dryads, Ancient Orcs and one or fewer Orc Generals.

Use combinations of Archers/Crossbowmen/Dryads and Golems/Mortars/Orc Strategists
vs
large combos of all 3 enemy types.
