Quests For
Summer Mermaids

Summer Mermaids brings an all new quest system!

Summary

NEW QUEST SYSTEM

The event quest system got a makeover!

Endless Quests

With the new quest system, the quests are now endless! They will continue to appear for the duration of the event, no matter how many are completed. Complete as many as you can!

No Daily quests

Note in the image above how there is only one special event quest giver, and not the usual 2; there is no ‘daily’ quest with this event. However, the number of corals rewarded per quest starts out much higher with the first sequential quests (30 corals) compared to events in the past (around 12-13 or so).

Random quests

Quests are random for each player, arranged into groups of similar difficulty so that things stay fair.

The first several quests are rather easy, and pay 30 corals each. As the reward increases, so does the difficulty.

So far, players are reporting similar quests for the first 10, but once the reward amount increases, there is more variance in quests offered from player to player.

Quest Samples

A “Quest List” is not possible, since quests are now random, but quest samples can still help us play strategically and progress steadily.

Players are presented a set number of quests from each pool of possible quests within each reward level. All players receive the same number of quests for each reward amount, but the number of quests required per reward level varies.

Quest samples as seen by beta players so far are listed below, grouped by reward/difficulty level, along with the total number of quests received per reward level.

Players may receive any of the quests listed in any order until they have completed the stated number of quests for the reward level.

Not all players will receive all quests listed, and some quests may be repeated. Players could also be offered quests not yet listed.

PREPARE

Players who enjoy planning events with a quest list may find it worrisome that there isn’t one any longer, but preparation for strategic quest progression is still possible!

While it’s true we can’t know for sure exactly which quests are coming, we can still have an idea of what to expect, and take steps to plan for the most challenging quests.

preparation tips
  1. Read through and prepare a strategy for quests by groups, 1-2 at a time.
    • As you near the end of one quest group, begin thinking about and planning for the next.
  2. Set the required longer productions.
    • Build a variety of level 1 workshops and Tier 1 Boosted Manufactories.
      • Non-boosted manufactories are not needed for any quests seen so far.
      • Leave some buildings available to run short productions, or be prepared to be stalled, or to dump longer productions in order to free up buildings.
      • The more space a player has to work with, the easier this will be. A general event strategy is to always leave some space available in your city for completing events.
    • Start enchantment productions, but don’t collect until a quest requires them.
      • Enter the Magic Academy through your inventory to start more productions without collecting completed productions, and you can prepare greater quantities at a time.
      • Inventory –> “Disenchant” button –> “Crafting” button –> “Produce” tab
  3. Be sure to leave plenty of available provinces and encounters open; there are several quests to complete provinces or encounters!
    • All quests which require encounters also give a tournament encounter option, but of course tournament encounters will be required in much higher quantity. If you can afford to without hurting your score, save tournament rounds for when you get one of these quests if you are in a quest group that includes one.
    • If you are completing map encounters for a quest, don’t complete the last encounter of a province until you get a quest to do so.
  4. Save Ancient Wisdom and coin rain instants for KP quests.
    • Use Ancient Wisdom instants for quests that require investing KP into an Ancient Wonder or spending KP.
    • Use coin rain instants for buying KP.
  5. Have several higher level buildings ready to upgrade, especially if you are an advanced player at the end of the game without any research to complete.
    • At least 5 upgrades are needed to level 14 – have several level 13 buildings ready to upgrade
      • Smaller buildings take less time to upgrade; the smallest by race are:
        • Humans: Marble Manufactories
        • Elves: Planks, Marble Manufactories
      • If you have plenty of royal restoration spells, upgrade event buildings.
        • As long as it is upgraded to the required chapter/level, it will satisfy the quest.
        • This will only work of course for players in the Constructs chapter.
    • At least 6 upgrades are needed to level 16
      • All of these come later than quests to level 14, so you can re-use the buildings you used for your level 14 upgrades.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT QUESTS

Here are the answers to some of the common questions we’ve seen about the quests for this event.

What are “Enchantment Items?”

Enchantment items are any item that could be found in the “Enchantments Library” on the production tab in the Magic Academy.

Elvenar Enchantment Items

How do I gain Spell Fragments?

Elvenar Spell Fragments

How do I gain Combining Catalysts?

Elvenar Combining Catalysts

How do I gain Vision Vapor?

Vision Vapor is earned from crafting items in the Magic Academy. Once you collect a crafted item, you will receive the amount of vision vapor listed:

Elvenar Vision Vapor

How do I spend Knowledge Points?

Knowledge points are ‘spent’ any time they are used. They can be added to research, to a player’s own Ancient Wonder, or to another player’s Ancient Wonder. Using Ancient Wisdom instants from inventory will also count as spending Knowledge Points.

Does upgrading an event building with Royal Restoration spells count as an upgrade?

Yes, any upgrade to the required level stated in the quest will satisfy the quest.

I’m in Elementals or later – all my manufactories are level 23 or higher! How do I produce 1 day and 2 day items?

Build some temporary level 1 manufactories; they’re small, cheap and fast to build.

Why didn’t the quest count a production that was collected?

While quest errors can happen, they are fairly rare. When an actual quest error is present, it will usually be listed in the forum as a confirmed bug.

Most of the time when a quest doesn’t update or complete when expected, the culprit is simply that the requirement has not been properly satisfied. Be sure to hover over each production to confirm what type it is before collecting it.

In some cases, there could simply be a delay in connection and the production wasn’t actually collected, or, a delay in the game recognizing it was collected. In this case, waiting a moment or refreshing the game can trigger the quest to notice the collection has been made, or show the production ready to be collected again.

Why isn’t the quest counting the Encounters or Tournament Encounters completed?

In this event, there are several quests that require x Encounters OR x Tournament Encounters. This means that all of one type must be completed in order to satisfy the quest.

When it comes to quests that have an “OR” in them, the quest progress will only indicate the progress of the option which is closest to completion. Therefore if some regular Encounters have been completed, and then some Tournament Encounters are completed, the progress will not update until a higher percentage of Tournament Encounters than regular Encounters is completed.
