GOODS
We will continue to need 1st Tier Basic Sentient goods, as well as Mana, and Divine Seeds.
CRAFTED (2ND TIER) SENTIENT GOODS
This chapter, the 2nd tier for Sentient Goods are added. Just like for the Elementals, once we upgrade a 2nd tier manufactory to level 24 and higher, it will be able to produce Sentient Goods.
The 1 day and 2 day production options are replaced with 3h and 9h Sentient productions.
You will be able to research the Production Boost after unlocking the research for each of the 3 manufactory types. Your Sentient production boost will be your normal boost +1
- If your boosted good is Crystal, your Sentient boost will be Arcane Ink
(Sentient Scrolls.)
- If your boosted good is Scrolls, your Sentient boost will be Royal Velvet
(Sentient Silk.)
- If your boosted good is Silk, your sentient boost will be Obsidian
(Sentient Crystal.)
GUEST RACE RESOURCES
This chapter, the guest race resources are very straight-forward. There are only 2 types of goods, each produced by one type of Guest Race production building.
New, however, is a culture-like resource produced by the settlement called “Prestige.”

PRESTIGE
Prestige works similar to how Culture and Population work. It is not consumed or spent, but simply in use or available. It is provided by the Portal and its Monuments. It is required in order to build or upgrade the Settlement Production buildings (Goldsmiths and Trap Makers).
The Temple of the Dunes produces Prestige. The basic output amount is determined by the Portal level. When you first build the portal, 1000 Prestige are produced. Each upgrade increases this base amount by 500.
To see the current required and available prestige, hover over the prestige icon in the Settlement Resources section of the Portal menu.
The building menu for each Monument shows how much % boost it is adding to the amount of Prestige added by the portal:

GRAVE GOODS
Grave Goods are produced in the Goldsmiths. They are used for unlocking research and upgrading the portal

TRAPS
Traps are produced in the Trap Makers. They are used for unlocking research and upgrading the portal
BUILDINGS
The new guest race production buildings for this chapter, and the order in which they are unlocked in research, are as follows.
PORTAL
The “Temple of the Dunes” is the first research and first building unlocked this chapter.
Upgrades will require Sentient Crafted goods.

Level 1: 6×4

Level 2: 7×5

Level 3: 8×6

Level 4: 9×7
As with previous guest race chapters, upgrading the portal adds a production boost to the guest race production buildings. If you have the Blooming Trader Ancient Wonder, the portal bonus is further boosted.
This boost increases the output, but does not increase the number of resources required to start each production.
Upgrading the portal building also increases the storage capacity for the Research Goods.
For these reasons, it is a good idea in every guest race chapter to focus on upgrading your portal as quickly as possible.
ADVANCED TRADER 2
Again this chapter we get another trader upgrade.
After you unlock your Second Tier Sentient Goods, you’ll need to be able to trade them! Upgrading the trader to Advanced Trader 2 enables this.
Upgrading the trader will also enable you to buy 2nd tier Sentient Goods from the Wholesaler. (Of course, the 2nd tier Sentient Production Boost technology must also be unlocked in order to see the new offers there.)
The upgraded Trader gets a new look to fit in with the Amuni:
SETTLEMENT PRODUCTION BUILDINGS
The production of the guest race goods is relatively straight forward this chapter, most similar to production in the Dwarves chapter. We have two types of buildings, which produce just one type of resource each.
You’ll need 2nd tier Sentient Goods, Mana, and Prestige to place and upgrade the settlement production buildings.
GOLDSMITHS
Goldsmiths connect to residences.
They are 5×5, and do not change in size or shape as they are upgraded.

Level 1

Level 2

Level 3

Level 4
Goldsmiths produce Grave Goods. Note the production time options. You can produce as often as every 15 minutes, or set longer productions up to 9 hours.
The shorter the production time, the more efficient the production speed is. The seeds cost however is the same per Grave Good regardless of cycle chosen:
HOW MANY GOLDSMITHS DO I NEED?
If you intend to complete the chapter quests, you’ll need exactly 8 Goldsmiths upgraded to level 4. You won’t be able to have fewer or greater than this and also meet the requirements for the Trap Makers; we are limited by a maximum attainable amount of Prestige.

You’ll need
8 Goldsmiths to level 4
to finish the chapter quests.

If the chapter quests are not important to you, you may want greater or fewer than 8.
- If you have plenty of space, and speed of production is more important to you than space conservation, then you may want more than 8, up to as many as 15 Goldsmiths. Remember, however, you will be limited by prestige; you will need enough for the Trap Makers, too. You’ll want to have a 2:1 ratio of Goldsmiths to Trap Makers.
- If saving on space is more important to you than speed of progression, you can get by with as few as 4, and still finish the chapter in reasonable amount of time (3 months or so, playing daily.)
TRAP-MAKERS
Trap Makers connect to workshops.
They are 5×5, and do not change in size or shape as they are upgraded.

Level 1

Level 2

Level 3

Level 4
Trap makers produce Traps. The production times and options are the same as they are for the goldsmiths.
The shorter the production time, the more efficient the production speed is. The mana cost fluctuates for some:
HOW MANY TRAP MAKERS DO I NEED?
If you intend to complete the chapter quests, you’ll need exactly 4 Trap Makers upgraded to level 4. You won’t be able to have fewer or greater than this and also meet the requirements for the Goldsmiths; we are limited by a maximum attainable amount of Prestige.

You’ll need
4 Trap Makers to level 4
to finish the chapter quests.

If the chapter quests are not important to you, you may want greater or fewer than 4.
- If you have plenty of space, and speed of production is more important to you than space conservation, then you may want more than 4, up to as many as 7 Trap Makers. Remember, however, you will be limited by prestige; you will need to have enough for Goldsmiths, too. You’ll want to have a 2:1 ratio of Goldsmiths to Trap Makers.
- If saving on space is more important to you than speed of progression, you can get by with as few as 2, and still finish the chapter in reasonable amount of time (3 months or so, playing daily.)
MONUMENTS
Monuments are connected directly to the portal. They add Culture to your city, and they boost the amount of Prestige added by the Portal (Temple of the Dunes).
You will need coins, supplies, your boosted 2nd tier Sentient good, and guest race goods to place the Monuments.
PILLARS OF THE TEMPLE
The first monuments you will unlock are the Pillars of the Temple. You can place 4 Pillars of the Temple in your city.
They connect directly to the portal.
OTHER MONUMENTS
You will build a total of 5 more monuments around your Temple of the Dunes to complete the Guest Race Settlement.
Each type must be unlocked in research. First are the Palm Gardens, followed by Temple of Veneration, then finally the Temple of Sustainability.
Your portal will need to be upgraded of course in order to accommodate all of them. With each upgrade, you can fit a few more:
Portal level 1,
with 3 Palm Gardens
Portal level 2,
with 3 Palm Gardens and one Temple
Portal level 4,
with all Monuments
HOW MANY MONUMENTS DO I NEED?
If you intend to finish the chapter quests, you’ll need every possible monument in order to have enough Prestige to upgrade all 8 Goldsmiths and all 4 Trap Makers to level 4.

You’ll need
every possible Monument
to finish the chapter quests.

If you do not intend to finish the chapter quests, you can get by with just what it takes to build your preferred number of production buildings. Here are a couple examples:
- 4 Goldsmiths, 2 Trap Makers to level 4: 2500 total Prestige
- No monuments needed. 2500 is provided by a level 4 portal
- 6 Goldsmiths, 3 Trap Makers to level 4: 3750 total Prestige
- Need only 1250 more than the 2500 provided by a level 4 portal
- 4 Pillars + 3 Palm Gardens = 1400
- Temple of Sustainability + Temple of Veneration + 1 pillar or palm gardens = 1300
- Need only 1250 more than the 2500 provided by a level 4 portal
To work out more examples, be sure to visit the by the Numbers page for more details on benefits and costs for each building and level.
AFTER THE PRODUCTION BUILDINGS ARE FINISHED UPGRADING
The only purpose to prestige is to allow you to build and upgrade the Goldsmiths and Trap Makers.
This means, once you have finished all of the upgrades you plan to complete for these buildings, you have no real need for Prestige anymore.
If you’d like to get back some space, sell off all or some of the monuments after your upgrades for the Goldsmiths and Trap Makers are finished. If you have no need to build or upgrade further, there is no negative impact to having negative prestige.
