Welcome To
Amuni Chapter

In Chapter XIII, the Amuni come to our cities!

This guide will provide a quick review of some Amuni basics already in the wiki for the sake of convenience, as well as some general strategic recommendations based on what we’ve learned by reading the wiki, crunching some numbers, playing through the chapter, and gathering player feedback.

Summary

Introduction

You’re searching for the forgotten past of your ancestors, the Elvenar, and you decide to dig. And not just your average hole, no, you dig deep, and deeper, and deeper. And then, one day, you find something small. You dig a bit more, but what you found goes deeper than you had thought, and it’s wider too! You dig further until you have fully uncovered what you believe was once a monument of some kind. It seems to have dried out the ground surrounding it completely, and there is pale, dusty desert sand everywhere you look. Your city is covered in it, and you see some Halflings scurrying away. You hear them whisper anxiously in hushed voices: they have seen this before. Once. It was shortly before their race got wiped away from the face of the world.

The monument opens and now you know what the Halflings are so scared of. Creatures are appearing left and right, and it doesn’t take long for you to understand what and who they are. You have uncovered a monument of the Amuni, which were believed to be long-gone. Well, it turns out the sources telling that story were wrong, because here they are, alive and well. The Amuni coming out of the monument are carrying some of the artifacts of their culture, which depict their cat-like god: Bastet.

Your citizens are slightly afraid of what’ll happen now: the Amuni have a bit of an attitude towards anything that’s not theirs, there is this sense of superiority among them – especially when it comes to their culture. In that sense, they’re a lot like the Elvenar were. When the Amuni spot you, and not the Elvenar, they are even more convinced of that: their culture has prevailed, whereas the Elvenar’s seems to have gone.

Dryness follows the Amuni everywhere they go, turning any place they show up in into piece of desert as their settlement drains the fertile land of water, making it inhospitable for other life forms. It looks like they’re getting ready to settle in your city. Maybe that’s not the worst thing, because the Amuni were a very developed people, but they may need to make some… adjustments to make things work for them. However, that should also allow your people to gain more knowledge, and improve the city’s overall production. Will this be your fate? Can a combined effort of knowledge and trust between all different cultures of Elvenar convince the Amuni to learn how to live in harmony with nature?

PREPARING FOR THE AMUNI

As you near the end of the Elementals chapter, there are a few things that you can do to prepare your city for the Amuni.

OPTIMIZE YOUR SPACE

It is necessary between just about every chapter to do a re-evaluation of your layout and look for space optimization opportunities.

Preparing for the Amuni is no different. Take a look at the layout suggestions to get an idea of the type of area you’ll want to leave room for.

If you’re like many players, you may not have had much room to be very neat or tidy as you worked through fitting in the Elementals Settlement and upgrading residences last chapter.

Take the opportunity after you sell off your Elementals settlement and while you work on the first few researches to optimize as well as possible.

PREPARE SPACE FOR PRODUCTION BUILDINGS

One of our bigger challenges this chapter will be re-organizing our city to accommodate the unique settlement building connection requirements.

You can get a head start on this by re-organizing your layout to allow for 8 5×5 buildings behind a row of residences, and 4 5×5 buidings behind a row of workshops.

IMPROVE MANA AND SEEDS PRODUCTION

Seeds and Mana will be needed in heavy supply.  Hopefully by now you’ve placed and upgraded some Ancient Wonders or nice event buildings to help with this.

  • Ancient Wonders to help with Mana:
    • Maze of the Dark Matter
    • Dragon Abbey (our favorite!)
  • Ancient Wonders to help with Seeds:
    • Elvenar Trade Center
    • Sunset Towers

Make sure you have a nice stockpile going into the chapter for the first researches and some mean initial quests asking you to ‘pay’ some relatively high amounts of both.

BUILD AND UPGRADE 2ND TIER BOOST +1

This chapter, we will gain a new production boost for Sentient Crafted goods.

  • If your boosted good is Crystal, build Scrolls.
  • If your boosted good is Scrolls, build Silk.
  • If your boosted good is Silk, build Crystal.

1 is arguably plenty to get through the chapter, especially if you have many Magical Manufactoring enchantments and make liberal use of them.

Higher producers may like to have 2.

3 will be very challenging to afford.
